Radiation therapy involves using high-energy rays to kill cancer cells.

Radiation may be administered externally, with a machine outside the body, or it may be given internally, by implanting wires, seeds, or wafers that emit radiation inside the body directly near tumors.

Radiation may be used alone or in combination with other treatments, such as surgery and chemotherapy.
