Ronald McDonald House (RMH): RMH specializes in providing temporary housing for pediatric patients receiving treatment at Duke and their families. Your social worker or patient resource manager must make a referral to the house for your first stay, but after this you can make your own reservations. Hotels: There are several area hotels convenient to the medical center that offer reduced rates.
Airfare assistance: There are several organizations that offer free air transportation for patients receiving treatment. Please contact your social worker if you would like more information about these options.
Local transportation: For free transportation around the Duke University Medical Center, please contact Security Alert Van Service at 919-684-2020. Patients who are Medicaid participants are entitled to free transportation to medical appointments. Please contact your Medicaid worker to make arrangements.
