Share

Support groups and programs offer opportunities to maintain emotional health and well-being throughout the cancer treatment process. The following groups are available to pediatric cancer patients and their families:

  • Duke Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Support Group is available for cancer patients on or off treatment, ages 15-30. The support group meets the first Thursday of every month from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. For more information contact Laurie Howlett at laurie.howlett@duke.edu.
  • Duke Cancer Parent and Caregiver Support Group is open to parents, caregivers, and significant others of cancer patients. The group meets the first Thursday of every month from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. For more information contact Anne Kosem at kosem002@mc.duke.edu.
  • Duke Cancer Patient Support Program offers individual and group counseling for those over 18.
  • Durham Child Development and Behavioral Health Clinic is located on Trent Drive and provides counseling and medication assessment.
  • The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society offers a program called First Connection Program, which matches parents with another parent of a child with same diagnosis.
