The Duke Cancer Institute includes a vast network of support services to help pediatric cancer patients and their families manage different aspects of their care.

These supportive care services help enhance patient quality of life, alleviate cancer-related symptoms, and improve the experience of having cancer and receiving cancer care while also ensuring that the patient receives highest quality medical treatment.

Support services include:

  • Services within the hospital to make your stay at Duke easier
  • Financial resources to help families of pediatric cancer patients manage the cost of care
  • Emotional support and mental health services, including support groups for patients and caregivers
  • Transportation and lodging assistance during your time at Duke
  • Additional resources such as wish foundations, camps, and school scholarships

Clinical social workers play an important role in the patient care team and can help you and your family cope with the many stressors that come with cancer treatment. Learn more about the services our clinical social workers provide.
