Multiple myeloma is divided into three stages (I through III) according to how advanced the disease is.

  • Stage 1: A relatively small quantity of myeloma cells are present in the bone marrow.
  • Stage 2: A moderate quantity of myeloma cells are present in the bone marrow.
  • Stage 3: A large quantity of myeloma cells are present in the bone marrow.
