Immunotherapy involves using drugs that boost the immune system’s own ability to fight the cancer. This may be done by providing medications that help the immune system work better or with medications that provide a synthetic version of something it is lacking.

Immunotherapy may also be called biologic therapy.

Cancer Types

Cancers treated with immunotherapy include:

  • Brain tumors
  • Kidney cancer
  • Leukemias and lymphomas
  • Ovarian cancer
  • Skin cancer
