At the Duke Cancer Institute we focus on treating the whole person, not just the disease. We combine excellent support services with advanced medical care to help ease the experience of having cancer and receiving treatment.
Trained specialists and compassionate volunteers offer educational and psychological support to patients and their families through the Duke Center for Cancer Survivorship and its patient care programs:
A wide variety of events take place throughout the year to provide patient education and provide patients with the tools and resources they need to maintain a high quality of life throughout treatment. The thoracic oncology support group is open to patients with head and neck cancer and their families or caregivers.
The head and neck cancer clinic can provide referrals to Duke's well-respected psychiatry program for patients who wish to stop smoking or overcome alcohol dependence.
