In the early stages, esophageal cancer may cause no symptoms. When symptoms are present, they can include:

Burning, pain, or pressure in the chest
Coughing or hoarseness
Frequent choking when eating
Indigestion or heartburn
Painful or difficult swallowing
Unexplained weight loss
