In the early stages, esophageal cancer may cause no symptoms. When symptoms are present, they can include:

  • Burning, pain, or pressure in the chest
  • Coughing or hoarseness
  • Frequent choking when eating
  • Indigestion or heartburn
  • Painful or difficult swallowing
  • Unexplained weight loss
