The primary purpose of a laparoscopic prostatectomy is to cure the cancer by removing the prostate gland completely.

Other key goals are to preserve sexual function (erections) and to preserve urinary control or continence.

This brochure is aimed at helping you understand your surgery, what will happen in the hospital, and what you can expect when you go home.
