The Duke Cancer Institute is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). The NCCN is an alliance of 21 cancer centers who are dedicated to improving the quality and effectiveness of care delivered to patients who have a diagnosis of cancer.
Many of our health care providers participate in the creation of NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines that can be used to guide practice. The DCI participates in the NCCN Oncology Outcomes Database program.
In March 2010 the DCI received three-year Accreditation with Commendation from the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) Commission on Cancer (CoC).
The CoC is a consortium of multidisciplinary professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education, and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.
Accredited organizations share data and have access to benchmarking data to facilitate ongoing quality improvement.
Duke participates in the C4QI consortium that seeks to improve the quality of care provided to cancer patients.
Membership is comprised of representatives from NCI comprehensive cancer centers who collaborate in the development and sharing of best practices and share process performance data to identify benchmarking opportunities.
