Financial contributions help make advancements in research and patient care possible by supporting the Duke Cancer Fund, facility development, and the work of our distinguished faculty.

Duke Cancer Fund

The Duke Cancer Fund:

  • Provides essential funding for immediate and emerging needs
  • Provides support for research initiatives that otherwise might go unfunded
  • Provides the resources necessary to recruit outstanding faculty and to respond to new opportunities
  • Is often used as seed money -- as a catalyst for new ideas to be explored
  • Leverages additional funding, particularly for young investigators
  • Ensures that novel ideas can be translated into new therapies more quickly to benefit patients

You can donate to the Duke Cancer Fund online or by contacting David Mainella at david.mainella@duke.edu or 919-385-3120. Learn more about the Duke Cancer Fund.

Faculty Support

To continue attracting, retaining, and recognizing the top cancer researchers in the world, the Duke Cancer Institute needs to be able to continue to support their innovative research.

Through named professorships, fellowships, and other endowments, you are able to help ensure the long-term stability of the Duke Cancer Institute faculty.

For information on supporting faculty members, or to donate to a specific research project, please contact Tom Kosempa at thomas.kosempa@duke.edu or 919-385-3124.

Research Support

While the Duke Cancer Institute receives significant support from National Cancer Institute (NCI) grants each year, private philanthropy plays a major role in providing support for innovative efforts to diagnose, prevent, and eradicate cancer.

Philanthropic support is particularly important in today's economic climate as funding from the NCI and other government organizations continues to decrease. This is unfortunate at any time, but particularly devastating when opportunities for major advances in cancer care are within our reach.

For information on supporting faculty members, or to donate to a specific research project, please contact Tom Kosempa at thomas.kosempa@duke.edu or 919-385-3124.

Duke Cancer Center

The Duke Cancer Center, a new, state-of-the-art, patient care facility provides patients access to a more streamlined approach to cancer care.

The 267,000-square-foot Cancer Center building epitomizes the Duke Cancer Institute model -- fully integrating care and research. The synergy fostered by the cancer facility and DCI will accelerate the translation of research discoveries into the most advanced clinical care for patients.

You can honor a loved one by naming a space in the Cancer Center building. For more information, contact Karen Cochran, executive director of development, at karen.cochran@duke.edu or 919-385-3122.
