Kay Glisson is the program coordinator for the Healthy Escapes program. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, she came to Duke University Medical Center in 1983, where she has gained experience in surgical nursing, trauma intensive care, cardiology, and healthy lifestyle coaching. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and is a Basic Life Support Instructor. Kay enjoys working closely with clients to help them achieve a more optimal quality of life. 

Melva Strait is a registered nurse and received her RN Diploma from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing, Toledo, Ohio. She has been at Duke since 1983 with extensive clinical experience ranging from neurology, cardiothoracic surgery, interventional cardiology and outpatient cardiology with an emphasis on cardiovascular prevention through lifestyle therapies as well as medical therapies.  Melva also has previous experience in cardiovascular research. She is a member of the American Heart Association (AHA) including AHA Basic Life Support Instructor. She is also a member of the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association. Melva enjoys the opportunity to team with participants in developing lifestyle skills for a healthier and more fulfilling quality of life.
