Fellowships

The Duke Vein Clinic believes in promoting learning opportunities for those interested in venous disease. By offering many types of fellowships, the Duke Vein Clinic hopes to provide a high level educational experience to qualified physicians wanting to enhance their knowledge of venous disease. We also want to provide a stimulating and educational experience for motivated students interested in making medicine a career choice.

Fellowship in Venous Disease

A certified fellowship in venous disease within Vascular Surgery is currently being considered, and is anticipated by July 2008.

Observational Fellowship

Observational fellowships are designed for physicians who want to learn more about all aspects of venous disease. By “shadowing” one of the Duke Vein Clinic physicians, other physicians from within Duke or physicians pre-approved by Duke’s Department of Surgery are allowed to learn about venous disease via observation only. Observational fellows are not involved in patient care, decision making, or treatment, and may observe for one day or up to three months (with special approval).

Observational Internship

Observational internships are designed for Duke CAPE (Collegiate Athlete Pre-medical Experience) students. The program provides participants with a wide variety of clinical experiences that provide exposure to the world of medicine. CAPE is designed to engage some of the nation's highest achieving young women in medical science and to help them onto the path toward careers in Medicine. The Duke Vein Clinic supports the CAPE program and participates by allowing CAPE students observe in the Duke Vein Clinic.
