Duke’s Valvular Heart Disease Program employs the latest tools and techniques for
diagnosis and repair of diseased valves and offers the latest
medical therapies for heart failure associated with valvular
disease.
The program encompasses a large outpatient and inpatient service that
treats all forms of valvular heart disease and operates in
concert with the Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Pulmonary
Hypertension programs.
Duke University’s Valvular Heart Disease Program is one of
the largest programs of its kind in the country and has
achieved national recognition.
The program is part of the Division of Cardiology, the Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery,
and the Duke Heart Center.
Program Highlights
- Offers diagnostic tests that can now be done without the need for cardiac
catheterization
- Pioneered the catheter-based treatment of valvular
heart disease, and continues to advance this field with new
techniques for valve repair
- Plans to offer catheter-based valve replacement through clinical trial(s) in the near future
