At the Duke Center for Palliative Care, our mission is to promote the relief of suffering for patients with advanced life limiting illness and their loved ones, through compassionate care, innovative teaching and pioneering research.

The Center for Palliative Care offers:

• Inpatient consultation service at Duke University Hospital.
• Educational programs for medical students, residents, fellows, faculty, and staff

We are also involved in research on topics including:

• Effectiveness of symptom-directed therapies
• Improving communication between patients and their health care providers
• Better understanding the experience of seriously ill patients and their families
