Duke Orthopaedics ranked seventh in the nation in 2007 according to U.S. News & World Report.
Duke University Hospital is one of only five North Carolina facilities designated as a Level 1 trauma center, which is the highest of three levels. The rating means that Duke provides the most comprehensive trauma care available.
More than 2,000 trauma patients receive treatment at Duke each year.
These patients have access to a care-delivery model that coordinates multiple services, such as general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, plastics/reconstructive surgery, urology, emergency department care, radiology, physical therapy, and critical care/orthopaedic nursing.
