The Look Good … Feel Better program is designed to
educate women receiving cancer to assist in coping with changes
in their physical appearance that may result from their illness
or treatment.
Since many women participate, the program has a strong
element of support and allows you to share and learn from other
women with similar experiences.
The session includes two segments, one devoted to makeup and
another devoted to hair loss (wig care, scarf tying, turbans,
etc.) Participants have given this program high ratings and
recommend it for all patients.
The program is sponsored by the American Cancer Society, the
Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association Foundation, and
the National Cosmetology Association.
Sessions are held on the third Monday of each month from
10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Location
The program is hosted at Duke University Medical Center by
Duke Oncology Recreation Therapy and the Duke Cancer Patient
Support program.
