More than five million people in the U.S. alone are now living with Alzheimer’s disease (AD), a progressive -- and often devastating -- deterioration of one’s intellectual functions.
Also known as senile dementia, AD is not a part of normal aging. Patients typically experience a steady decline in memory, thinking, and behavior, which can worsen to the extent that they can no longer safely function independently.
Duke has been at the forefront of Alzheimer’s disease research and care for several decades, and we provide a number of specialized clinical services and support resources to patients and their families.
Our team provides the sensitive, expert care AD patients and their families need, including sophisticated diagnostic services, personalized drug therapies and disease management services, and support programs for caregivers.
