Moon is the Duke Integrative Medicine director of corporate activities and a member of the Duke Integrative Medicine Steering Committee. His primary specialty is occupational and environmental medicine (OEM), and he serves as chief of the OEM division in the Department of Community & Family Medicine at Duke. He is certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine.

His clinical background includes nine years of rural primary care on the Oregon-Washington border, four years at a multidisciplinary rehabilitation center for pain disorders, and 11 years in an academic occupational and environmental medicine practice at Duke. He provides consultation for employees, workgroups, and employers on numerous issues of health and work.

Moon lectures nationally and internationally. His scholarly activities focus on ergonomics, musculoskeletal disorders, the mind-body interaction in occupational health, and the physician-patient interaction.
