Prior to joining Duke Integrative Medicine, Sasha Loring provided health psychology services at the Duke Diet and Fitness Center, University of North Carolina Hospitals, and a private psychotherapy practice. She has been an education consultant for post-graduate medical education, has led training in interviewing skills for medical students, and has provided Executive Health stress consults.
An avid interest in meditation has led her to incorporate mindfulness skills as an important part of her work, including leading seminars around the country and teaching the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program at Duke Integrative Medicine. She has also helped develop a home study course entitled "The Mindful Way to Reduce Stress."
Sasha Loring's clinical and research work has focused on stress management, stress-related chronic conditions, meditation, mind/body interventions for improved health, and the treatment of binge-eating disorder and obesity. She leads classes on mindful eating and has co-authored a weight-related educational program that is offered on the internet through the eMindful educational website. She also is a teacher for the Getting on Track Weight Management Program at Duke’s Center for Living.
Loring received her master's in education from the College of William and Mary and her master's in clinical social work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
