Duke’s Hyperbaric, Diving, and Altitude Medicine Program is
a multidisciplinary offering of the Duke Center for Hyperbaric
Medicine and Environmental Physiology.
Using hyperbaric oxygen therapy, our cross-disciplinary team
of experts serves patients suffering from conditions that
include:
- Air or gas embolism
- Carbon monoxide poisoning and smoke inhalation
- Compromised skin grafts and flaps
- Decompression sickness (“the bends”)
- Necrotizing soft tissue infections
- Problem and slow-healing wounds
- Severe blood loss and anemia

Diving Safety
Working closely with the Divers Alert Network (DAN), Duke’s
Hyperbaric, Diving, and Altitude Medicine Program supports and
advances diving safety through medical and physiological
research, diver education, and skilled treatment of divers who
require our services.
