Duke offers comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for patients with swallowing disorders, gastroesophageal reflux, Barrett’s esophagus, and esophageal cancer.

For patients with swallowing disorders and gastroesophageal reflux, Esophageal manometry and ambulatory pH monitoring, including capsule pH (Bravo®) studies, are offered.

We also offer new endoscopic techniques for the treatment of both esophageal reflux as well as the pre-malignant condition of Barrett’s esophagus.

Duke also offers expertise in the management of esophageal cancer. Treatments include esophageal stent placement and photodynamic therapy (PDT).

Physicians from gastroenterology work closely with surgeons who are recognized leaders in the surgical treatment of esophageal diseases, including newer laparoscopic techniques.
