Physicians from gastroenterology work closely with surgeons
who are recognized leaders in the surgical treatment of
esophageal diseases, including newer laparoscopic
techniques.
Benign Disorders
For patients with swallowing disorders and gastroesophageal
reflux, esophageal manometry and ambulatory pH monitoring,
including capsule pH (Bravo®) studies, are offered.
We also offer new endoscopic techniques for the treatment of
both esophageal reflux as well as the pre-malignant condition
of Barrett’s esophagus.
Malignant Disorders
Duke also offers expertise in the management of
esophageal cancer. Treatments include esophageal stent
placement and photodynamic therapy (PDT).
