The Division of Gastroenterology at Duke continues to rank in the top 10 by U.S.News & World Report, and many of the faculty members are national and international leaders in their specialty.

We have active basic and clinical research programs pertinent to most of the major gastrointestinal and liver diseases, including:

• Colon cancer
• Inflammatory bowel disease
• Pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer
• Barrett's esophagus
• Viral hepatitis
• Drug-induced liver disease
• Alcoholic and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Through research, the division aims to advance current clinical practice beyond today's gold standards in these areas.
