Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus

Duke Eye Center offers the latest diagnostic tests and treatments of children’s eye diseases, as well as eye muscle disorders in adults.

Children who can benefit from Duke’s care include those who need glasses, those with crossed eyes (esotropia), out-turned eyes (exotropia), droopy lids (ptosis), blocked tear ducts, ocular tumors, cataracts, congenital glaucoma, optic nerve abnormalities, genetic diseases, retinal disorders, and eye tumors.

The  strabismus service treats eye muscle problems that result in double vision or deviated eyes.

  • Thyroid eye diseases

  • Old childhood eye muscle problems

  • Nystagmus (jerking eyes, wiggly eyes)
  • Blepharospasm and hemifacial spasm
