Heart Disease

Duke Children’s Heart Program offers services for infants, children, and adolescents with known or suspected heart disease, as well as adults who have congenital heart disease.

Heart murmurs, cyanosis (blue color of the skin), chest pain, fainting, or unexplained low energy levels are common reasons for new patients to be seen at the Duke Children’s Heart Program. Medical management and follow-up of patients known to have heart disease is also provided.

Your child’s doctor will be a board-certified pediatric cardiologist from the Duke Children’s Heart Program. Each pediatric cardiologist has a regular clinic day, and for continuity of care, we encourage you to schedule return appointments with the same cardiologist.

Adult Congenital Heart Clinic

This clinic provides the vital link for older adolescents with congenital heart disease as they transition to into adulthood. In conjunction with the Duke Heart Center, this clinic also provides long-term care and advanced therapeutic options for adults with congenital heart disease or pulmonary hypertension.

Our special expertise includes catheter-based interventions for anatomic problems, medications for pulmonary hypertension or heart failure, prenatal and peripartum care, and genetic counseling.
