Expert Diagnosis and Treatment of Children's Heart Disorders

Heart defects are the most common birth defect in children, affecting approximately one in every 100 newborns in the United States.

Whether you’re a parent whose child has just been referred to a pediatric cardiologist, an expectant mother who needs to have a fetal echocardiogram, or an adult who has managed a congenital heart problem for your entire life, navigating the world of pediatric cardiology can be overwhelming.

The Duke Children's Heart Program offers expert diagnosis and treatment of all types of pediatric cardiovascular disorders. We offer a variety of different programs developed to meet the unique needs of all of our pediatric cardiology patients.

Our highly-skilled and experienced cardiologists, heart surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, and nurses specialize in the compassionate care of children with heart disease. We strive to overcome barriers of fear, culture, and language with the universal language of kindness and understanding.

Duke's Division of Pediatric Cardiology is a primary provider of cardiovascular diagnostic and treatment services in the southeastern United States. Our dedication to care and treatment of people of all ages, along with an emphasis on cutting-edge research, results in a program that is among the best in the country.

The faculty offer a comprehensive spectrum of clinical services to treat cardiovascular diseases that may affect the fetus, infant, child, adolescent, or young adult. Our research programs also include a number of clinical trials conducted through the NIH-funded Pediatric Heart Network, as well as several industry-sponsored clinical trials in congenital heart disease.
