Heart defects are the most common birth defect in children, affecting approximately one in every 100 newborns in the United States.
Whether you’re a parent whose child has just been referred to a pediatric cardiologist, an expectant mother who needs to have a fetal echocardiogram, or an adult who has managed a congenital heart problem for your entire life, navigating the world of pediatric cardiology can be overwhelming.
The Duke Children's Heart Program offers expert diagnosis and treatment of all types of pediatric cardiovascular disorders.
Our highly-skilled and experienced cardiologists, heart surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, and nurses specialize in the compassionate care of children with heart disease. We strive to overcome barriers of fear, culture, and language with the universal language of kindness and understanding.
Initial referrals to the Duke Children’s Heart Program are generally made by your child’s primary care physician. To make an appointment, please call 919-668-4000.
We promise appointments within seven business days of the referral or appointment request, although every effort will be made to make a same-day appointment for patients who have urgent concerns.
A pediatric cardiologist is on call at all times and can be reached through the Duke Medical Center paging operator at 919-684-8111 for emergency questions or consultations.
