Spa Day 2009 will be held on Wednesday, June 10, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on the first floor of the Morris Building.
On Wednesday, June 11, 2008, the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program along with Duke Oncology Recreation Therapy hosted the first Cancer Support Spa Day.
The first floor of the Morris Building was transformed into a “spa” offering pampering treatments to patients and their families. Several local boutiques were present to style wigs, talk about self image options and reassure patients who may have issues concerning self image due to their cancer treatments. Massage therapists and reflexologists were on hand to provide soothing care.
There were also educational tables with information on relaxation, healthy eating, journaling, and much more. All services and gifts were donated by local companies and individuals, with over 30 different companies represented. In addition, a good number of companies donated prizes to give away throughout the day.
We look forward to hosting Spa Day on June 10, 2009, and again having the opportunity to pamper our patients and their families.
