Local chef serves up more than just good food
“I’ve been fortunate enough to have been involved with many
fun and exciting ventures in my life,” said Chef Scott Howell,
owner Nana’s Restaurant. “But this event is one of the most
special experiences for me.”
The event he is referring to is the annual Nana’s Dinner to
Benefit the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program. Held at
Howell’s Nana’s restaurant, one hundred percent of the proceeds
from the event support the Duke Cancer Patient Support
Program.
Scott donates every morsel of food and every glass of wine,
in addition to his staff, for an entire evening. It’s a fun
evening with a wonderful purpose,” said Rachel Schanberg,
director of the Support Program. “Everyone has a great time,
but this event really accomplishes something. The money raised
will enable us to continue to reach out to cancer patients, and
make them feel comforted and cared for during this devastating
time in their lives.”
The event at Nana’s includes a champagne reception, followed
by a five-course dinner including fine wines. The event is open
to the public, but reservations are required.
Space is limited to the first 95 people. Reservations can be
made by calling 919-684-4497. The cost per ticket is $150; $100
of which is tax-deductible.
Watch for announcement of the date for Nana’s Dinner
2008.
