Kidz Need Hugz Program

The Kidz Need Hugz program (formerly Rock-a-Baby Program) devotes time and service to children of all ages.

The program requires a person with great emotional stability and a capacity for compassionate listening to children and their parents. The volunteer provides help with playtime activities, verbal interaction, feeding, rocking, dressing, and other parental type tasks in the hospital setting with the permission of staff.

A volunteer may visit a child with special ongoing needs every week or may meet new children every week. A volunteer must be flexible, self-motivated, and comfortable with children of all ages and cultural backgrounds.

Time Commitment

• Nine to 12 months, one day per week, two to four hours per day
• Two semesters, one day per week, two to four hours per day
