Duke University Medical Center offers a number of free community support groups designed to help you or your family members cope with your special health needs.

Aging Issues

The Alzheimer's Disease Support Group, sponsored by the Duke Family Support Program, offers information and support for family and friends of people with Alzheimer's disease. For more information, call 919-660-7510.

The Cary & Ruth Henderson Patient and Care Giver Support Group provides information and support to patients with Alzheimer's disease and other memory problems and to their caregivers. For additional information, call Roberta Wallace at 919-668-2836.

The Daughters Concerned for Aging Relatives, sponsored by the Duke Family Support Program, is open to daughters and daughters-in-law concerned about issues regarding aging relatives. For more information, call 919-660-7510.

The Parkinson's Disease Support Group provides support and information for people with Parkinson's disease. For more information, call 919-681-2033.

Amputation

The Rex Triangle Amputee Support Group, co-sponsored by Duke University Medical Center's Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics, offers amputees emotional support, educational information and political updates on issues concerning amputees. For more information call 919-684-2474.

Cancer Support Groups

The Cancer Support Group, sponsored by the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program, provides support for cancer patients, their family members and other support people.

The Pediatric Brain Tumor Support Group is designed for family members whose child or sibling has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. For more information, call 919-681-1890.

The Prostate Cancer Support Group, sponsored by the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program and the Division of Urology, offers emotional support and education for men with prostate cancer and for their partners.

The Thrivers Support Group, sponsored by the Duke Cancer patient Support Program, offers support for people who have completed cancer treatment.

Women's Issues

Nurturing One Another While Nursing Our Babies is a support group for breastfeeding moms sponsored by Duke Women's Services.

The Postpartum Depression Support Group, sponsored by Duke Women's Services and the Department of Social Work, offers assistance for new mothers experiencing distress at any time in the first year after deliver. For more information, call 919-681-6840.

The Women and Loss Support Group, sponsored by Duke Women's Services, is designed to provide support and healing to women who have experienced any type of loss.
