The mission of the Duke Department of Pharmacy is to care for patients by assuming responsibility for the medication use process, facilitating safe and effective use of medications.

pharm2.jpg Several pharmacies are available for both inpatients and outpatients. We have more than 100 clinical pharmacists and 120 pharmacy technicians on staff.

Our pharmacies process more than 4,000 medication orders daily. Every order is reviewed by a pharmacist for dose, route, frequency, indication, allergy, and interaction. More than 10,000 doses are dispensed daily.

Children's Health Center Support Pharmacy (Rainbow Pharmacy)

Hours: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday, closed from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. Location: Duke Children's Hospital & Health Center, main entry level, near the elevator

Details: This pharmacy is designed to help meet the outpatient medication needs of those receiving care in Duke’s Children’s Health Center, as well as pediatric patients being discharged from Duke Children’s Hospital. Prescription products, a limited supply of non-prescription medications, and medication counseling for patients and families is provided. Many hard-to-find products, such as injectable drugs and compounded preparations, can be obtained here.

Children's Health Center Clinic Pharmacy

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Location: Fourth floor of Duke Children's Hospital & Health Center, Room 4916

Details: This pharmacy provides drug products and information to health care providers taking care of patients in the day hospital, treatment rooms, and procedure areas of Duke Children’s Health Center.

Duke Outpatient Pharmacy

Hours: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
Location: Duke Clinic, first floor, Room 14219

Details: This location only fills prescriptions for Duke patients and employees. Prescriptions can also be mailed via UPS for a nominal charge.

Morris Cancer Clinic Pharmacy

Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Details: This is an ambulatory infusion pharmacy that primarily provides services for adult oncology patients who are receiving intravenous chemotherapy at Duke.

The Plaza Pharmacy

Hours: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Duke Raleigh Hospital, first floor

Details: This pharmacy offers medication counseling, ostomy supplies, insulin pump supplies, over-the-counter products, and prescription compounding. It accepts most third-party insurance plans.
