Packing on extra pounds during pregnancy is expected. But new guidelines released this week by the Institute of Medicine of National Academies tell you how many extra pregnancy pounds you can gain and still be healthy.
According to their report:
- Women with normal pre-pregnancy weight should gain 25-35 pounds
- Women who are overweight should gain 15-25 pounds
- Women who are obese should gain 11-20 pounds
