You will be encouraged to begin walking as soon as you have recovered from the anesthesia.
Depending on how you tolerate the operative procedure, and whether your surgery was done early or late in the day, you may recover satisfactorily to go home the same day as surgery.
This decision will be made after your surgeon sees you in the afternoon. If the decision is made for you to stay overnight in the hospital, you will again be evaluated the next morning and most likely be discharged before 11 a.m.
