What Does This Measure?

Percentage of pneumonia patients who had the level of oxygen in their blood assessed within 24 hours of hospital arrival.

Why Is This Important?

Pneumonia can lower the oxygen levels in your blood. It is important that the amount of oxygen in your blood be measured within 24 hours of arriving at the hospital to see if you need oxygen therapy. The assessment may include an arterial blood gas (ABG) or pulse oximetry.
